Mission Statement

At age 50, I have decided to make my first foray into politics. I am running, not because I want a political career, but because I want to be a public servant. It is time to replace career politicians with effective leaders who know that their first allegiance is to their District, not to the power brokers in Tallahassee or to out of state interests. My allegiance lies with the people of the 7th District, and clearly, District 7 needs leadership now more than ever. I have learned first hand that leadership requires listening, independent thinking, integrity and experience, and I am ready to put those qualities to work for the citizens of the 7th District.

I am a business owner and an attorney who has represented both large corporations and average citizens in my practice. I believe my commercial and legal background has provided me with the skills and insight to productively represent NW Florida. I am a past Chamber of Commerce Chair and Economic and Community Development Committee Chair. I have a strong voice in my community and District 7 needs a strong voice in the State House to boldly and articulately assert the needs of our region, especially when leaders from Central and South Florida seek to benefit their areas of the State at our expense. Although District 7 is diverse, we need to be unified as one District when it comes to asserting our voice in Tallahassee, so that the voice of NW Florida's citizens will be heard and regarded with respect in the House when decisions are being made that affect us.

I love Northwest Florida for all that it offers. I recognize the unique beauty of our environment and pledge to protect it. I will work tirelessly to create jobs by making this District more attractive to new business and investment opportunities. I will protect our shores from near shore oil drilling and save our inland water resources from attempts to control and divert those fresh water sources to South Florida.

From alternative/bio fuel initiatives to eco-tourism to high tech industry, our area has the potential to lead the State in opportunity and growth. I will work with like-minded leaders to pursue these opportunities so that we can claim the prosperity that is within our reach. To do this, I pledge to explore all sources of revenue that don't threaten our basic economy and way of life.

I am already humbled and overwhelmed by the well wishers, supporters, volunteers and contributors who have come forward to offer their support for my candidacy. I will need your support as well. Together, we can preserve the beauty and enhance the prosperity of NW Florida. With your help, I look forward to the opportunity to serve as your Representative.
